Benefits of insuring through Healthy Pets

Depending on the policy you choose, you may benefit from:

  • Vet fees – If your furry companion suffers an injury or develops an illness, your insurer will cover the costs up to your agreed cover limit. Vet fees also allow for complementary treatments which include physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, and acupuncture.
  • Third party liability – If your dog was to cause injury, damage to someone’s property, or death, the cost will be covered up to £1,000,000. Dog Insurance only.
  • Emergency boarding – Covers the cost of licenced pet boarding, pet sitting, or kennels up to £1,000 if you, or anyone in your household, are unexpectedly admitted to hospital for four or more consecutive days.
  • Accidental damage – If your dog was to cause minor damage to someone else’s property, insurance through Healthy Pets may help to cover the cost of repairs or replacement up to £750. Dog Insurance only.
  • Theft/straying – If your pet is stolen or goes missing, up to £1,000 cover will be provided for advertising or reward costs for their return.
  • Travelling abroad – If your holiday has to be cancelled or delayed due to your pet having a life-threatening injury or illness, your insurer will contribute up to £2,000 towards additional costs. Treatment fees for an injury or illness in the EU will also be covered.
  • Death by accident or illness – If your vet recommends your pet is put to sleep or passes away as a result of an accident or illness, you’ll be paid either the purchase price of your pet, or up to the cover limit provided – whichever is lower. Subject to the purchase price you provide and a receipt of purchase. Paid for dogs aged 8 or below and cats aged 10 years and below.

What types of pet can you cover?

Healthy Pets provide cover for cats and dogs. Cover can usually be taken out for your cat or dog so long as they are 5 weeks old or over. New customers can insure dogs up to 11 years old, and cats up to 13 years old.

Pets we won’t be able to insure

Unfortunately, Healthy Pets can’t provide cover for rabbits, horses or other pets. Cats and dogs with pre-existing medical conditions can only be insured for future accidents and injuries, not for medical conditions they currently have. Pet owners must also be UK residents.
