Don't let Valentine's Day break your heart. February 14th isn't just a day for love-heart shaped cards and red roses, it's also Pet Theft Awareness Day.

Keeping pets safe from theft

No one wants to think about what would happen if your precious pet were stolen. However, you can help stop this from happening by following these helpful tips and tricks:

Don't be tempted to leave your pet tied up outside a shop - even if it’s a quick visit, thieves won't need long
The same goes for leaving your dog in the car unattended
Ensure that all microchip details are up to date as per UK legislation with your correct address and contact details - that's a call you don't want to miss!
Make sure your dog comes back when you call, or isn't let off the lead until they can do so without fail

Finding a lost pet

If the worst does happen, always report the theft to the police as soon as possible and obtain a Crime Reference Number. Share pictures of your pet on social media and posters around your neighbourhood to get the word out quickly to help get your fur-baby back.
