PET THEFT AWARENESS DAY - DO YOU HAVE COVER IF THE WORST HAPPENS?

14 February 2019

Don't let Valentine's Day break your heart. February 14th isnt just a day for love-heart shaped cards and red roses, its also Pet Theft Awareness Day.  No one wants to think about what would happen if your precious pet were stolen.  However, you can help stop this from happening by following these helpful tips and tricks:

  • Dont be tempted to leave your pet tied up outside a shop - even if its a quick visit, thieves won't need long
  • The same goes for leaving your dog in the car unattended
  • Ensure that all microchip details are up to date as per UK legislation with your correct address and contact details - that?s a call you don't want to miss!
  • Make sure your dog comes back when you call, or isn't let off the lead until they can do so without fail

If the worst does happen, always report the theft to the police as soon as possible and obtain a Crime Reference Number.  Share pictures of your pet on social media and posters around your neighbourhood to get the word out quickly to help get your fur-baby back.  Remember to check your insurance policy terms and conditions for advertising cover or theft/straying cover which may be applicable for you.
