Healthy Pets Provide Environmentally Friendly Insurance!

Specialist pet insurance company Healthy Pets have taken environmental issues seriously by contracting a consultant to analyse its Carbon Dioxide (CO2) omissions. This is a company that really care about pets and the world they inhabit, as they have used the information to ethically offset the company’s CO2 omissions. The company’s carbon footprint, or the amount of CO2 the business produces, was calculated at 11.80 tonnes per annum. Healthy Pets is now putting the same amount of CO2 back into the environment through government-approved schemes.

The process involved an assessment of energy efficiency and carbon emissions for Healthy Pets carried out on site in Petersfield by Neil Casson from Energy Footprint Ltd. It looked at the business chain from suppliers of raw materials though to final product and customer base. Applying government guidelines and conversion factors, the processes and activities undertaken were used to analyse the company’s total carbon emissions.

With the responsibility of the Global CO2 burden on everybody’s shoulders, Healthy Pets is taking the advice gained to review suppliers and reduce CO2 omissions for the future.

Healthy Pets Chief Executive, Mark Effenberg who instigated the initiative said, “This has been an eye opening and most worthwhile exercise, I feel pleased that we have taken the time to analyse and manage our CO2 omissions ethically”.
