Healthy Pets Launch Lifetime Policy

Healthy Pets Insurance is now offering pet owners a new Lifetime Pet Insurance. The new policy pays the costs of chronic, or on-going illness for an unlimited period. Healthy Pets policyholders now have the choice of an 'Essential Policy' or, for a small amount extra per month, the alternative 'Lifetime Policy'.

The new policy means that a pet, continuously insured with Healthy Pets, is covered for a condition through to the next year even if a claim is made during the previous 12-months. Many policies exclude on-going conditions the following year. Healthy Pets are now able to cover a pet for a condition for the 12-month period following onset, the following 12-months, and for each and every year of the pet's life. With Healthy Pets Lifetime Policy the maximum amount of £4,000 paid for an illness is refreshed each year. The original 12-month Essential Policy is still chosen by some people, but it only pays a set amount per condition for a maximum of 12 months - after that your on your own!

Without a Lifetime Policy, a pet with a condition such as diabetes would only be covered for the first year after which the owner would not be able to cover the pet for diabetes again - even if they changed insurance companies diabetes will be excluded!

Healthy Pets Lifetime Pet Insurance pays up to £4,000 per year for each illness and injury, including hospitalisation, referral and complementary medicines. The important part of a Lifetime Policy is that a fresh start is made each year with another £4,000 - useful for many conditions including diabetes, heart, kidney and skin problems.

The new Lifetime Policy also carries third party liability for dogs of £1 million, boarding fees or homecare of £250 per year and advertising and reward money of £250 should your dog or cat be lost or stolen. Premiums vary according to location and breed of dog. A non-pedigree cat premium starts at just £6.60/month with a £50 excess and the average pedigree dog can be insured for life for £11/month.
