Healthy Pets Backs Net Neutrality
2nd January 2010
Pet Insurance Specialist Healthy Pets is backing the US Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) recent call for preservation for an open internet.
The FCC opposes plans by some of the worlds largest ISPs to back a proposed idea for a tiered system of data travel, in which bandwidth heavy traffic, such as video streaming, will travel slower. Together with organizations such as Facebook, Amazon, Google, Sony and eBay, Healthy Pets Insurance understands the need for all online data to be accessed at an equal rate as other, non bandwidth-heavy traffic.
Mark Effenberg, Healthy Pets Chief Executive, said “In an ever changing online world, the importance of staying neutral is more important than ever. No matter how large or small a business is, we must all be treated fairly and allowed the same rights as others. We oppose any form of restriction, and this includes the recent proposals to restrict bandwidth hungry traffic. At the end of the day, it is up to the consumer to decide which websites they look at and can access information from, not ISPs.”
Healthy Pets Insurance is one of the UKs leading pet insurance specialists, and thrives in its independence. With no ties to larger organizations, it has managed to develop in the 13 years of its existence, and believes that online competition is healthy for any company.
Since 1997, Healthy Pets Insurance has remained independent and specialist choosing to trade on the trust of its policyholders to gain one of the highest renewal rates in the industry.
